DJ Moth
Growing up surrounded by the sound of dub and roots, it was the acid house explosion that really prompted DJ Moth to immerse himself in dance music.
In the early days the scene boasted an openness that meant Gil Scott-Heron or the Jungle Brothers could be heard alongside the ubiquitous Strings of Life, and it is this spirit of eclecticism that informs his djing style. The jazz, funk and fusion of Roy Ayers and Miles would soon broaden his musical palette as he sought to understand the history informing the music of the present. And he was finally influenced to get on the decks by the seminal Metalheadz drum n' bass sessions at the Blue Note.
In the present it is the black gold of 4 Hero and Seiji's broken beats, the independent hip-hop of Stones Throw and the intense grooves of The Cinematic Orchestra intersecting with the classic sounds of Fela Kuti and Herbie Hancock which define his DJing agenda.
