The New Dreams Quartet
In addition to playing trumpet with MOTIV, Steve Sincock has held a long abiding passion for the work of visionary musician Don Cherry. Steve was keen to record Don Cherry's music for many reasons, but primarily because it is rarely played.
Don Cherry was a genuine innovator. He is mostly known for his recordings with Ornette Coleman, but that is only part of the story. He was the first jazz musician who really studied what is now known as "world music", travelling all over the world, studying and playng with local musicians, he became a truly universal musician with a progressive and totally creative view of life and music.
Steve has been described as having a "great sound" (Randy Brecker), and his playing as "beguiling" (The Independent). The New Dreams Quartet's album, due for release on anotherworldmusic in 2008, features original material along side the Cherry classics.
